California employers with five or more employees were required to provide sexual harassment prevention training to all employees by January 1, 2021. The Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP) recommends that your practice train its employees as soon as possible.

As part of the HR consulting services included in your CAP membership, you receive both the two-hour supervisory course and the one-hour non-supervisory course for your employees. Please complete the form to receive instructions for you and your staff members.

Note: On August 30, 2019, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 778 into law which extended the previous training deadline from January 1, 2020 to January 1, 2021. All employees who have been hired or employees who have been promoted to supervisor positions since September 2018 must be trained within six months of hire or promotion. SB 778 does not change this requirement.

The Mutual Protection Trust (MPT) is authorized under Section 1280.7 of the California Insurance Code as an unincorporated interindemnity arrangement among physician members of the Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP). Members do not pay insurance premiums. Instead, they pay tax-deductible assessments, based on risk classifications, for the amount necessary to pay claims and administrative costs. No assurance can be given as to the amount or frequency of assessments. Members also make a tax-deductible Initial Trust Deposit, which is refundable according to the terms of the MPT Agreement. ©
